Abstract

5012. Boult, A. J., [Leeson, J. R.]. Feb. 28. Yarns, warping and beaming. - Warping or beaming machines having a drop-wire stopmotion are provided with a device for returning the wires to their initial position when the machine stops. The drop-wires T, Fig. 4, are secured in blocks t<1>, which are pivoted to blocks t<3> adjustable in slots in rods S. When a warp breaks or becomes slack, its drop-wire falls and a shoulder on its block t<1> engages a shoulder on one of the bars R, which are normally reciprocated from a rock-shaft M actuated from a cam i, Fig. 3, by connexions K, L, J. When the bars R are prevented from reciprocating, the shoulder l<3> of the part l of the link L rises out of the' bevel l<4> of the part l<1> against the action of a spring l<6>, and a shoulder l<7> moves a lever Q to release a shoulder h<2> on a rod H from a staple h<1>. A treadle e<2> then rises under the influence of a weight acting on a shaft F, and a belt-shifter is moved to stop the machine, a brake being simultaneously applied. As the treadle rises, a connexion 3 acts on levers v<1> to move them into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4, and wires 2 return the fallen detectors to their initial positions. The machine is re-started by depressing the treadle e<2>. The driving-belt is first shifted, on to a pulley, which drives the machine through gearing at a slow speed, the wires 2 being simultaneously moved half-way down, so that the stop-motion cannot be operated by the slackness of the warps. The treadle is then further depressed, and the belt shifted to another pulley, which drives the machine at full speed. The warp-beam trunnions rotate in bearings in hinged weighted arms b<4>.
