Abstract

2375. Rogers, L. L. Jan. 31. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical springs. -Relates to wheels in which a spring hub is fitted with a driving- connexion of the Oldham - coupling type. The axle-box 11, Fig. 2, is formed with an integral flange 12, and is secured upon a tapered axle by a washer and nut 20, which serve to lock a detachable flange 13 carried on a screwed bush 14. Both flanges are fitted with phosphorbronze rings 16 bearing against plates 25 bolted together through metal 'blocks 29. The spokes are fitted between the blocks, Fig. 1, and are riveted to the plates. Radial helical springs are fitted on pins formed on the blocks and pins seated in a cushion 9 of rubber or other elastic material surrounding the axle-box. Elastic buffers are fitted to the pins. The flange 12 and the adjacent plate 25 are formed with pairs of projections arranged diametrically and at right-angles. The projections engage similar recesses in a floating plate 10, Fig. 3.
