Wheels, alternative sets of.-For the purpose of increasing adhesion and to prevent derailment at stations, inclines, &c., the locomotives are provided with auxiliary smaller wheels adapted to engage two inner auxiliary rails fixed adjacent to the ordinary rails, but mounted so as to stand higher. The inner wheels may have no flanges, and can be applied to any of the axles of the locomotives or carriages.
