Abstract

1388. Snow, E. Jan. 19. Hand-wheels.- A tubular handrest attached to the steering handwheels of motorvehicles, air-ships, &c. is heated by the exhaust from the engine. The rim of the hand-wheel may be encased in a tube, or a circular or segmental hollow member, crescent-shaped in cross-section, may be fitted on to the rim. The drawing shows another construction in which a hollow hand-rest B is connected by clips to the rim of the hand-wheel. A regulated quantity of the exhaust passes to the hand-rest through a cock E and escapes by a pipe H.
