Abstract

29,968. Gibbons, R. G., and Rosenthal, H. S. May 11, [Convention date]. Mounting screw fans. A screw fan is oscillated about an axis at right-angles to its axis of rotation by the frictional engagement of the spindle end B with a plate C attached to the fan pedestal, and having a certain amount of spring. The spindle rolls over the upper side of the plate until it reaches the slot H. The plate springs up, and a spring D gives an initial push to the spindle, or to springs J attached to the fan casing, after which the spindle rolls back on the underside of the plate. On reaching the slot H', the plate springs down. A slot may be used instead of the plate C. The spindle B may be driven by gearing from the fan spindle.
