Abstract

19,102. Hutchison, M. R. Aug. 19. Mechanically-operated sheet and plate vibrators; sound-directing appliances.-A mechanical horn comprises a diaphragm 1 having a wearpiece 15, and is operated by a cam 26 on the shaft 20 of an electromotor 37. This shaft is eccentric in its bearing-sleeve 21, by rotating which the.cam can be adjusted with respect to the diaphragm, to secure maximum sonority. A lock-nut 25 secures the bearing in position, stops being provided to limit the rotation for adjustment to half a revolution. The amplifying-horn 10 is fixed to the front of the diaphragm case 6, which is secured to the back casing 2 by bolts so arranged as to allow it to take either of two positions, so that the lug 83 may lie to the left or right hand of the device. The horn is preferably flattened horizontally as shown at 10<c>. The operating-cam 26 may be formed with flat driving-faces as shown in Figs. 8 and 9.
