Abstract

27,048. Robertson, A. R. Nov. 22. [Cognate Application 28,214/09.] Supporting and mounting bearings.-A bearing for centrifugal machines provided with springs for damping oscillations and vibrations, as described in Specification 25,476/08, is so arranged that the centre of curvature of the spherical surfaces on the bearing A, Fig. 1, and on the cup B supported laterally by springs H, is at a point C below the bearing. This enables a belt pulley or other driving-means or a brake to be applied to the spindle at or about the centre of oscillation C. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the spherical part of the bearing B rests upon a part A supported laterally by springs H, Fig. 4, oscillations of the bearing being damped by springs G. Springs M, Fig. 4, may be used to increase the friction between the part A and the casing J.
