Flat extended surfaces, surfacing.-A machine for surfacing artificial granite or other stone slabs is constructed with a work-holder i in a receptacle g, mounted on a rotating shaft f. The shaft f is rotated through bevel-gearing by a shaft b, which carries a crank connected with a link l and reciprocates a rod s through a lever m. The rod s carries a work-holder to receive a slab r, which moves to-and-fro over the rotating slab k held in the work-holder i. A stationary deflecting-shovel is adjustably mounted to stand in the receptacle g and throw the abrading-sand between the slabs k, r.
