Abstract

Ordnance breech mechanism. - R e - lates to trigger mechanism of the kind in which a bar connected with the percussion lock is moved by rotating a bar pivoted parallel to the gun's axis, and consists in adapting this mechanism to guns which are fired during run-out. Fig. 1 shows a sectional plan of the parts just before the end of the run-out, the bar D being then automatically moved to operate the slip-lock F by means of the bar Q which has a pivot R, Fig. 3, on a bracket P attached to the cradle and is locked thereto by a pivoted catch E. If the gun misses fire, a lever T is moved against the action of a spring to operate by means of a projection t<3> on an inclined face e' on the catch E to release the bar Q and allow it to move under the action of the bar D to the position shown in Fig. 3. The lever T may be held in this position by a bolt U, but on being released a pin t<4> operates on the bar Q and thereby moves the bar D to fire the gun, the catch E returning to its locking position under the action of the spring e<2>.
