Abstract
26,019. Sulman, H. L., and Picard, H. F. K. Nov. 10. [Cognate Applications, 28,612/09 and 29,616/09.] Treating ores to facilitate concentration.-In treating oxidized ores to facilitate separation by flotation, or by granulation as described in Specification 26,295/02, certain metalliferous particles are covered with a thin film of their respective sulphides. For this purpose the ore pulp is submitted to the action of sulphuretted hydrogen, a soluble sulphide, or other compound capable of yielding sulphur. If sulphuretted hydrogen be added to lead and zinc oxides suspended in acid, the lead becomes coated with sulphide; oxidized copper ore may be treated with iron pyrites or sulphur at a low temperature to convert the copper oxide into sulphide. To increase the volume and coherence of float froth, freshly precipitated sulphide may be formed in the pulp.
