25,044. Kennedy, W. Oct. 30. Angular bending; bending-formers.-In a sweeparm bender for tubes, a former is employed between the work and the bending-roller to avoid deformation. The tube c is clamped between a base a and a nut b, and is bent round a former d by means of a former which is made in two pieces e', e<2> connected by straps p, and is actuated by a roller g adjustable on an arm driven through a worm and wheel m, l. The acting-face of the former e<1> e<2> is made to the radius of the tube c from a<1> to b<1> and d<1> to f, Fig. 2, and to twice that radius over the rest of the face. The former e<1>, e<2> is of slightly less depth than the tube, so that it may open out in use.
