Abstract
24,825. Freymuth, W. A. Oct. 28. Separating liquids from solids by straining.-Lac is treated in centrifugal machines by the aid of steam and hot air in the course of a process for purification, such as that described in Specification 22,218/09, [Class 82(ii), Washing granular &c.]. The basket of the centrifugal is preferably made of wire net, and is provided with guide-plates A<1>, A<2>, which direct the filtered lac into a removable annular trough E of the form shown. Hot air is directed into the basket by a pipe F<2>, or the basket may be provided with openings at the bottom and vanes to suck the hot air through it..Steam is introduced into the pipe F<2> by the pipe F<1>. Instead of filtering the lac, an imperforate basket may be used, and the impurities separated by density.
