Abstract
23,390. Portland Forge Co., and Ramsay, J. M. Oct. 13. [Addition to 4756/07.] Hinges readily separable about hinge pin.-In modifications of the detachable bearings for ships' rudder pintles described in the parent Specification, the bearing-block B, Fig. 1, in one arrangement is screwed into a liner F, which is tapered externally and fitted into the gudgeon C from the top. In another arrangement, the block B, Fig. 2, is supported in the gudgeon by a wedge D having its sides sloped to engage grooves in the gudgeon. In another arrangement, the block B extends below the gudgeon to engage a recess in the stern-post G, as shown in Fig. 4, or it may be supported from a projection on the stern-post by one or more intermediate blocks. The bearings may be fitted to the rudder gudgeons, the pintles being then secured to the stern-post gudgeons.
