Abstract

Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members. - Rigid rim segments 1 are mounted on pistons 2, which slide in cylinders 3 communicating with a common air-chamber 4 around the hub. The pistons are connected by links 6, or by a combination of links and bell-crank levers, with a ring 7 mounted on ball bearings in order to distribute the load over the wheel. The hub chamber is formed by detachable plates and a ring 5 into which the cylinders are screwed. An outer ring 10 also supports the cylinders. Tyre blocks 13 bridge the spaces between the segments, which rest on a segmental ring 16 connected thereto by pins and slots 17.
