Abstract

20,758. Uhlhorn, D. Sept. 10. Materials descending by gravity; air, supplying.-In grain-drying shafts of the kind in which the grain traverses a hot-air shaft, the grain is elevated, and then falls down an adjacent shaft, of which the upper part is heated and the lower part cooled; the discharge of grain is effected by known apparatus operated by the overflow of the grain entering the shafts. The receptacle for the grain is divided into chambers b, c, b<1>, c<1>, the upper parts being provided with overflow outlets leading to passages k, k<1>, in which are overshot wheels f, f<1> operated by the falling grain and operating the discharge devices through gearing. The shafts are supplied by elevators in front of the wheels f, f'. An air-chamber supplying the shafts is divided into two parts w, w<1>.
