Abstract

20,460. Houvenagel, D. L. J. Sept. 7. Translucent plates.-Relates to plate glass, for windows, paving, &c., formed with sinuous prisms on one surface. The surface ab of each prism is formedby a series of cylindrical surfaces which join one another tangentially, and the generating lines of which are inclined at 45 degrees to the plane of glass plate. The surface be of each prism is formed so that rays of light entering the face ab at an angle of 60 degrees to the plane of the glass plate are reflected by it normally to the plane of the glass plate.' The prisms are spaced at a distance ae apart so as not to shade one another from light falling obliquely.. Cylindrical lenses may be formed on the reverse side of the plate.
