Abstract

20,051. Brown, G. W. A. Sept. 1. Drawings to Specification. Rotary cylindrical valves ; cooling.-A rotary or oscillating valve is formed as a ported ring, cone-shaped or having a curved profile on its inner surface, and working upon a similarly shaped internal seating so that the valve adjusts itself automatically for wear, and leakage is prevented without the use of packing - rings. The ring may be cone - shaped or of curved profile on both surfaces, and the section may be wedge - shaped or of uniform thickness. The curved profile of the ring may be determined on the principle of the Schiele's pivot. The ring may be hollow and water-cooled.
