19,247. Woolcock, J. Aug. 21. Moulds.-Concrete blocks, slabs, pipes, &c. are formed by pouring concrete into the space k between sheet-metal moulds f, g, supported upon a carrier d within a box a. The outer mould g is surrounded by sand or other absorbent material l, and is withdrawn, after the concrete has been poured in, to allow the sand to come into contact with the concrete and absorb surplus moisture. When making solid blocks, the mould f is omitted. For making long articles, the moulds are filled with concrete, withdrawn for about half their length, additional sand placed round them and more concrete poured in, this process being repeated. The mould box a is provided with a hinged bottom b retained by a catch m.
