Force - transmitting mechanism.-The brake beams of railway and tramway vehicles are suspended from the truck frame so as to have a limited universal movement, by two parallel bars formed at each end with recesses or perforations in which are secured hemispherical projections formed on brackets secured to the truck frame and brake beam respectively. Projections 3 on brackets 4, o are secured in perforations formed in bars 2, by bolts 8 fitted with springs 11. In modifications, the bars 2 are formed with recesses instead of perforations, and the bolts 8 connect the bars either above or below the projections on the bracket.
