Abstract

18,191. Dawson, A. T., and Buckham, G. T. Aug. 6. Projectiles.-Relates to driving-bands adapted to receive augmenting-strips which are employed to compensate for the wear of the charge chamber of the gun. According to the invention, the driving- band B is constructed with a cylindrical projection having one or two ribs b<x>, and the augmenting- strip is secured in the groove formed between the two ribs, Fig. 3, or against the one rib C, Fig. 4. This construction avoids the weakening of the driving-band, which results when a groove is cut in the band itself to receive the augmenting- strip.
