Skid.-An emergency skid brake, for use on motor omnibuses and cars, tramcars, and other vehicles, consists of a cam-shaped two-armed lever c pivoted to brackets a secured to the vehicle frame b. The lever c, which is applied by the driver, is of such a length as to raise the vehicle on its springs when fully applied, without, however, lifting the wheels from the ground. On application, one end of the lever abuts against an adjustable stop-piece d on the framing.
