Abstract

18,064. Leigh, A. G. March 29. Actuating valves; lift valves.-A device for automatically distributing liquid such as sewage to two or more filter-beds or other areas, described as applied to siphons but not limited thereto, comprises a chamber 8 and a valve 3 attached to a spindle 5, part of which is formed as a worm 2. As the chamber 13 fills, the float 4 is raised and lifts the spindle 5 so as to bring a cushion 6 on the valve 3 against the outlet of one of the air-pipes 11 which lead from the siphons S to the chamber 8. The discharge of the chamber 13 consequently takes place through the siphon in which the air is thus confined When the float and spindle fall, a ball 1 engaging in the worm 2 causes the spindle to rotate, so that, when the tank 13 is again filled, the cushion closes a different air pipe.
