' Engaged ' and like indicators.-In an indicator of vacant theatre seats, the lowering of the seat opens a contact in a lamp-signal circuit, and when all the seats in a row are occupied an electromagnetically-operated turnstile is fixed in position. A system of lamps thus indicates at the box-office the seats that are vacant. A photographic record may be taken of the seats occupied. When all the seats are occupied, a turnstile prevents further admission. The chair switch may consist of a spring-actuated shaft working in a sleeve which is arranged to press against two springs. The shaft may have a dash-pot to retard its motion.
