Abstract
17,571. Tippetts, R., and Hankins, S. July 28. Protectors, construction of.-A heel pad is formed of scrap leather or the like by cutting the pieces of leather a to form sectors, and securing them together by an eyelet b which compresses the leather so that the central portion is recessed. The pad is fixed to the heel by a screw passing through the eyelet. Staples c may also be used for securing together the pieces of leather, which, in addition, may be held in position by nails passing through to the heel. In a modification, the eyelet is replaced by two clipping-plates having teeth which engage in the respective sectors.
