Abstract

17,013. Mackenzie, J. W., [Bruun & Sorensen]. July 21. Water - tube boilers ; partitions in waterspace.-Relates to boilers of the kind comprising a number of separate elements, each of which has its own water circulation and is differently exposed to the heat. According to the present invention, the heights of the waterlevels in the elements gradually decrease from the coldest to the hottest element. The steam chamber is common to all the elements. The boiler shown in Fig. 1 consists of two chambers a, b connected by circulating tubes or other channels c, d, and divided into separate elements by partitions, those in the chamber a reaching to different heights. The feed-water is admitted by a pipe g to the coldest element, and the other elements become filled by the water flowing over the tops of the partitions. Instead of being formed from chambers a, b, the elements may be separate but with their steam spaces in communication.
