Abstract

16,911. Meyer, G. S. July 20. Renewable calks. - Plates with detachable studs are secured to the shoe by arms and straps embracing the hoof. To prevent the plates from being torn off by interference, their outer edges do not project beyond the shoe. Integrally formed with the plates 10, 11 are front extensions 13 connected by a fastening over the front of the hoof, and rear extensions 16 connected by flexible means round the heel. The front fastening may comprise a hook and eye 15, 14, Fig. 3, and the heel connexion may be an adjustable strap 18, Fig. 1. In a modification, Fig. 4, the adjustment is made at the front by a screwed bolt 22 and the heel connexion comprises a wire 23 with a canvas, leather, &c. covering 24. An upwardly extending flange 20 engaging the inner edge of the shoe may additionally prevent displacement of the plates 10, 11.
