Reinforced-concrete pipes. - The auxiliary bonds, ties, or windings of the main bars are subjected to initial tension when in place and before the concrete is applied. Various forms of bonds are described, Fig. 16 showing one example; each bond is tangential to rods intermediate to those tied by the bond, and the main bars are strutted by toggle links or by cast-iron or concrete rings 3, Fig. 30.
