Abstract

Carriage stops; line-locking devices ; carriage-releasing arrangements.-The carriagefeed rack 8 and the bar 16, which carries the alarm, margin, and line-lock stops 19, are pivoted on trunnions 13 so that the rack and the stop-bar may be lifted together for carriage release, or so that the stop-bar may be lifted independently to release the stop devices. The rack 8 is secured to a bail 11 which is mounted on coned adjusting-screws 13, and the stop-har 16 is secured to a bail 17 which is mounted on the shanks of the screws 13 and lies on the bail 11. The bails 11, 17 are respectively provided at opposite ends of the carriage with release-handles 15, 18<a>. The stops 19 are secured to the toothed stop-bar 16 by spring-pressed pivoted catches 20, the right-hand margin stop being provided with a pivoted plate 24 which operates the bell-lever 27 and the line-lock lever 29 in the movement to the left but rides clear during the return movement. The lock may be released by raising the bail 17, and the carriage may be then moved until the stop engages a lug 34. The travel of the carriage to the left is limited by a lug 36 on the carriage engaging a stop 35 on the frame.
