Abstract

13,244. Bullivant, r. A., and Selby, G. M. June 5. Pulley-blocks.-A leading-block for ropes comprises two side plates and two guard plates held together by a bolt forming the sheave pin, a cross-head carrying a swivel eye, and a sheave, the boss of which is provided with a bush having slots to hold lubricant. The sheave 1 is mounted on a pin formed by the bolt 2 connecting the side or cheek plates 3, 4 and the guard-plates 11. The cross-head 5 is secured between the upper ends of the plates 3, 4 by means of nuts, and carries a bolt 9 forming a swivel for the eye 8. The guard-plates are provided with arms 12-14 connected by bolts, the upper bolts carrying rollers. Portions of the guard - plates have inwardly projecting lugs 19 to protect the rims of the sheave, and outwardly projecting lugs 18 to receive the side plates. The bush in the sheave is provided with dovetailed slots 20 to hold lubricant, the ends of the slots being closed by removable plates.
