13,072. Dickie, D., Wallace, J. W., and Savage, J. June 3. [Cognate Application, 24,303/09.] Outlets.-The outlet nozzles of beer engines and the like are provided with siphon devices to prevent drip. In one form, shown in Fig. 3, the outlet, which is tapered externally at s and cut off at an angle at h, has a siphon e formed integrally with it. The main passage is formed with a chamber m communicating with the outlet c through an air vent hole o. The smallness of the quantity of liquid that can be obtained by a short stroke of the pump may be regulated by varying the capacity of this chamber. This chamber also tends to check the surging of the liquid. In a modification, a separate siphon tube is inserted in the nozzle. In a further modification, the outlet itself acts as a siphon, an air inlet controlled by a ball check valve being fitted to a branch communicating with the main passage at its lowest point.
