Abstract

10,185. Sheard, H. April 29. Pickers.-An internal strip A is carried from the picker head around the spindle hole B and back to the picker head, forming a back for the spindle and a strengthening-core for the body of the picker. An external strip C also extends from the picker head around the spindle hole and back to the head, and between the two strips is a strip or part D, which terminates in a coil D' on either side of the picker body and acts as a buffer to receive and resist the impact of the picking-stick. In modifications, the buffer effect may be obtained by doubling back on itself the external strip C, or by building into each side of the picker body, between the strips A, C, a plug or coil portion, the intermediate strip being in this latter case dispensed with.
