Abstract

Cooling air.-In apparatus for cooling air, distributing - troughs a, Fig. 1, have, in connexion with their lower parts and between the surfaces thereof, surfaces or plates e so arranged that a liquid, such as refrigerated brine, overflowing from the trough, is evenly distributed over the plates. The troughs have longitudinal openings on their upper sides and depending web parts a<1> which have longitudinal slots a<2>, Fig. 4, to receive the upper edges of the plates. The plate may be secured by metal pins having notches c<1> in the ends and other notches c<2> in the sides. To remove the plates, the pins are rotated so that the holes in the plates coincide with those in the sides of the web. The pins are then withdrawn. In a modification, part of the web may be formed separately and may be fastened to the other part so that the plates are clamped between the two parts of the web. The plates may be corrugated horizontally.
