8945. Lederer, L. April 15. Plastic compositions containing cellulose acetate.-Sheets or objects of durable softness and suppleness are produced by adding to cellulose acetate or its solutions, a small quantity, for example from 1 to 2 per cent of an organic acid ester of a mono- or poly-hydric phenol, or of a phenol ether, or of a homologue or nuclear substitution derivative of these bodies. Acetic acid esters, for example resorcin diacetate, are practically suitable. By increasing the proportion added by from 2 to 3 per cent, sheets of cellulose acetate, which may be used as a gutta-percha substitute, are produced.
