Abstract
8779. Beckman, A. G. April 13. Pressure-regulating valves.-The pressure of gas passing out of the regulator at the end 7 is controlled by a lift valve B. The valve is normally held away from its seat 12 by a spring C. When the pressure rises beyond a limit determined by the strength of the spring, the valve is forced on to its seat. Thereafter the gas passes through the nearly-radial holes 15 in the valve, and the friction of it with the walls of these holes suitably reduces the pressure at the outlet. The gas passes to the valve through holes 4 in a partition 3, and away from the valve through holes 9 in a partition 8. The total area of the inlet holes 4 is greater than the total area of the outlet holes 9. The valve is concave on the outlet side.
