Impact pulverizers; roller-and-ring mills and apparatus.-The pulverizing-machine is fitted with a combination of pivoted hammers and centrallyyielding grinding-rings, either the hammers or rings, or both, being arranged helically round the driving- shift. The pivoted hammers are carried by radial arms 10, Figs. 3 and 4, extending from hubs 11 keyed on the driving-shaft 3. The hammer supports are arranged in two sets, each set comprising alternate supports, and the supports in one set being displaced 45 degrees with respect to those of the other set. The end supports are disks 13 with rim flanges 15, and cross-rods 12 extend through these disks and are secured by pins 16. The ring hammers 16<a> are mounted in helical rows on the rods 12, and successive hammers in each row overlap. Hammers 17 having their outer ends enlatged and rounded, and plain bar hammers 18 are also used. The forward grinding-concave 23 is pivoted at the lower end on a binge rod 27, and its upper end may be hooked and rest upon a rod 29. The lower concave 24 is pivoted at its forward end upon a rod 30, and is adjusted by means of a wedge 32 operated by a bolt. The rear concave 25 is formed of circumferential bars spaced apart and Linged at the lower end to a rod 37, a flange 39 at the upper end being supported by a rod 38. The feed-opening 20 is situated in that side of the small housing 21, which is flush with the side wall of the casing 2, and may be protected by an inwardly-swinging door. The endless bucket conveyer 40 is mounted to pass close to the rear concave, and lateral guideplates 41, hinged to swing outwards, are provided. When crushing sticky materials, the slotted concave 25 may be removed, and the ground material pass directly to the conveyer. The opposite side walls 5 of the upper casing 2 are made with semicircular recesses at their lower edges covered by removable plates fitting closely around the bearing- boxes of the shaft 3.
