March 4 S e w i n g - machines; l o c k - s t i t c h i n g b y shuttles. - Relates to two - reel sewing - machines and consists in an improved construction and arrangement of the reel casing A, which is formed of two truncated cones placed base to base, the bases forming a flange A<1>, which runs in a race F, which is so positioned that the axis of the case is slightly inclined downwards from the undershaft G. Two pins H, H<1> are provided on a disk J at the end of this shaft, and these pins enter holes K, K<1> in the case to drive it as required, the inclination of the case axis being sufficient to cause the complete withdrawal of the upper of the two pins when they are in the same vertical plane. At one part the case is cut away to form a bight B and a hook C, but the hook itself may be a separate member attached to the case. The head of the outer cone is opened to allow for the insertion of the spool L and its holder M, which has a projection M<2>, which fits loosely into a groove provided in a pivoted gate which is closed on the spool after the latter is inserted. The spool is mounted on a sleeve M<1> of the carrier, which fits on the axial pin N of the case.
