Abstract

4388. Torriani, E. F. May 13. Grilling-stoves. - An apparatus for grilling food on both sides simultaneously consists of two adjustable grates or fire-boxes C in a casing A. The grates C are fitted with running-wheels a and guide-wheels a<1> moving on rails b, b<1> in the base and crown of the stove, and are adjusted by means of rack-and-pinion gearing c. The grates are filled with coke, which is ignited by means of gas-burners f, and the food to be cooked is hung between the grates upon a bar placed in notches h', k<1> respectively, in a vertical bar h at the back of the cooking- chamber and in the ends of pivoted counterweighted bars k at the front of the stove. The bars k normally hang approximately vertically, as shown by full lines, but when they are in use, the stops l hold them substantially horizontal, the notches k<1> coming to the same level as the notches h<1>, as shown. A drip-pan is placed in the lower part of the cooking-space.
