Locking nuts.-A washer for locking nuts has an annular projection A engaging the flat sides of the nut, and a number of notches or grooves G extending from the periphery but stopping short of the central hole. After the nut N is screwed down, a pin P is driven through one of the notches G, and bends down into a vertical hole H in the work M. The pin may have the form of a wire loop P<2> engaging grooves on opposite sides of the washer W. In a modification, the grooves G are formed on the face of a nut or bolt head.
