1282. Kirwan, R. J. July 16. Winding-apparatus.-The main spring g<2> of the clock-work of a speed-indicator is kept wound up by gearing actuated by a shaft of the vehicle. Conical wheels f, g, in one of which, g, the spring is arranged, are adapted to be moved in and out of engagement by means of a screwed cap k and a screwed collar on the wheel g, the relative movement of which brings the wheels into contact when the spring is unwinding.
