Abstract

820. Turner, P. Jan. 13. Pneumatic separating; reciprocating sieves.-The broken grain, semolina, beeswing, and flour from the break rolls are all separated on one machine, which comprises a series of reciprocating screens A, B, C, D mounted one above the other with the coarsest sieve A at the top, the overtails of one or more of the sieves being aspirated so as to draw off the beeswing, bran, and other light impurities. The sieves A, B, C, D overtail broken grain, coarse semolina, fine semolina, and middlings, respectively, the bottom sieve D dressing through break flour. Aspirating-trunks J, K, L provided with valves M lead from the feed, sieve A, and sieve B, respectively, to expansion chambers O, which are fitted with baffles P and collecting- worms Q and connected by trunks R to a fan. Aspirating-trunks may also be arranged on the sieves C, D. The sieves are actuated from eccentrics on the driving-shaft T, and are kept clean by revolving brushes S travelling to - and - fro under the sieves.
