Ship windows.-A balanced sash window for ships comprises a lower fixed part, and an upper part e which can be slid downwards behind, or in front of, the fixed part so that no well is necessary to receive the sash. The sash e is pressed against packing- strips f by means of bars c operated by the device shown in Fig. 4. The bar c is provided with inclined projections bearing against inclined planes d on the tixed frame, so that when the bar c is pressed upwards by the lever b actuated by the screw a, the sash e is forced against the packing f, thus making the window water-tight.
