Abstract

27,911. Kemp, A. J., Randall, F. W., and Primrose, F. A. Dec. 22. Submarine vessels; ballasting; trimming.-In an arrangement for automatically trimming a submarine vessel, in which water is adapted to be pumped from an aft tank to a forward tank, or vice versa, the weighted pendulums y, z for controlling the operations are arranged to actuate belt-shifting gear or like mechanical means for starting or stopping the pumps. Fast and loose pulleys k, l, m, n are provided for operating the pumps e, h, the striking-forks o, p for the driving- belts being mounted upon rods q, r adapted to slide in bearings s, t when reciprocated by crank-levers u, v respectively. Pins w, x at the ends of the pendulums engage with the crank - levers. To prevent hunting, the pendulums are provided with dash-pots or similar devices.
