Cheroots.-In cheroot-bunching machines of the rolling apron type, the cheroot is received into a mould k, is positioned axially by two end flaps b controlled by springs d of equal strength, and is trimmed by knives. The lever f mounted on a shaft h carries a strap a to which are pivoted flaps b having short arms c. When the cheroot is received in the mould k, the lever f moves in known manner in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 3, bringing the flaps b opposite the ends of the mould, the flaps however being kept outwards by pins o mounted on the bunch-roller fork m. When the fork m is withdrawn, the flaps b position the cheroot, and, on the return of the lever f, move away from the mould, the cheroot being then held by the presser levers p while the cutting-knives operate. Stops on the strap a limit the movement of the flaps. The strap a may be adjustable in length if cheroots of various lengths are to be operated upon.
