[Cognate Application No. 3358, A.D. 1909, dated Feb. 11.] Girders ; roofs ; bridges ; floors; reinforced concrete.-A reinforcing- skeleton, shown applied to a roof in Fig. 1, consists of two or more trusses spaced apart by rods b, each truss comprising compression members a and ties c. The members a may be made of angle or other iron, wood, or metal and wood, of comparatively short stock lengths, and are pierced or slotted at the centre and at one or both ends to receive the ends of the transverse bars b. Clips d are used on the overlapping ends of the members a. The ties may consist of rods or chains, and have looped ends which are slipped over the bars b outside the bars a. Fig. 4 shows a bridge in which the trusses are provided with struts e ; the depth may be increased as shown in dotted lines, and the strength of the booms may be increased by using several bars a together. The centering is suspended from the rods b, and the compression bars a may be temporary, in which case they are placed on the outside of the centering so that they can be removed when the concrete has set. The invention is stated to be applicable to floors, domes, &c.
