Abstract

24,595. Dettmer, J. R. F. Nov. 16. [Cognate Application No. 13,916, A.D. 1909, dated June 14.] Frames and framing; tanks.-Relates to cargo vessels of the kind having top-side water-ballast tanks, and consists in constructing them with the frames carried up from the upper plating of the double bottom to the height of the forecastle, poop, or bridge decks. The shell plates are carried up with the frames and are joggled, overlapped with liners, or butted together. Several examples of the manner in which the framing a may be carried up to the required height and connected to the decks and hatch-coamings are described and illustrated, and also several constructions of double bottoms to enable the frames to be connected to the upper plating. Fig. 25 shows one example of such constructions. The frames may be carried up continuously in one piece.
