Ignition Installations For Internal Combustion Engines
(AREA)
Abstract
21,757. Wild, M. Oct. 14. Gas and like engines, igoiting in. The electro-magnetic sparking plug is of the type in which the armature turns on its longitudinal axis, and together with the magnet core is arranged in a coil, the armature lying in a recess in the core. The magnet core a is surrounded by the coil b enclosed in the casing c secured by the holder d. The armature l, Fig. 4, fits into a recess in the core a, Fig. 3, and is supported by studs or points m, preferably prismatic in form, arranged in line with the armature spindle g carrying the movable contact i. A spring n is employed to hold the armature in place and to keep the contacts together. The spindle g passes through insulation h. In the modification shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the spring has only one coil which terminates in an arm o provided with a sharp edge p, which bears against the armature l. The other end of the coil may have a similar termination. This ensures freedom of movement of the armature l.
