20,308. Baxter, W. H. Sept. 28. Elevators.-Relates to machinery for crushing, elevating, screening, and grading broken stone, ore, &c. The elevator belt e, Figs. 3 and 4, carrying buckets h, is preferably of the type described in Specifications No. 29,910, A.D. 1897, No. 8338, A.D. 1900, No. 8503, A.D. 1901, [Abridgment Class Sifting &c.], No. 20,971, A.D. 1903, No. 14,411, A.D. 1904, and No. 8602, A.D. 1905, and delivers the broken materials through openings s in a cylinder r mounted on the upper screen shaft k, on to a weighted shoot v, which directs them into the inner screen y. The openings s are fitted with hinged doors t, which open as they approach the upper part of the cylinder, and the shoot v is mounted loosely by a boss on the shaft k. Cams or guides may be used to open and close the doors t, or sliding doors may be used. The tailings from the outer screen q are conveyed by inclined blades 3 through the lower part of the cylinder r over its closed doors to the opposite side of the elevator e, from which it may be delivered into a continuation screen 5 or into a conveying-cylinder. The blades 3 are mounted as described in Specification No. 28,156, A.D. 1907. The upper part of the apparatus may be mounted on runners, or both runners and a central shaft k may be employed. The screens, elevator, &c. are all driven by belt and toothed gearing from the shaft of the stonebreaker.
