Abstract
19,407. Nikoloff, S. Sept. 15. Disk and wheel apparatus.-The grinding-wheel f, Fig. 2, is mounted on a spindle d, which runs in bearings carried at the lower end of a sleeve g. The sleeve is supported by an overhanging extension m of an arm n, capable of vertical adjustment by means of the screw p. The sleeve g is turned in its bearing h by a worm j and a worm-wheel i to adjust the grinding-wheel spindle relatively to the line of the centres c, between which the work is held. The bearing h is split, and is tightened by a screw to clamp the sleeve g in its adjusted position. The belt 1 which drives the grinding-wheel spindle is situated in the hollow sleeve, and drives a pulley 2 which is situated so that the axis of the sleeve passes diametrically through it, and a plate y covering the worm-gearing i, j and the top of the bearing h, and a sleeve x attached to the arm n prevent grit &c. from entering the bearings.
