Looms, warp tension regulating in; creel frames.-The warps used for producing coloured or other selvedges, borders, or stripes are passed from one or more balls b, Fig. 2, on headless bobbins or tubes supported on studs a around two or more parallel rods k, which are connected in groups or pairs by a cross bar i ; the tension given to the threads is varied by turning the bar i about a stud h, the bar i being then secured in position by a set-screw j. The rods k may be placed in position to give free passage to the warps so that no tension is placed thereon. Each ball &c. b may have a brake e, f, g, and the warps may be guided around fingers or rods m, and over a stud &c. l and the back-rest q, to the place where they join the remaining warps s. The rods &c. m are adjustably secured by set-screws p to collars o, which are adjustably secured by setscrews n to the stud l, so that the position of the rod m around or on the stud l may be adjusted. The apparatus may be used at both sides of the loom, and the parts a, e, h, l, k may extend right across the loom. The stud l or a similar stud may carry several guide-fiogers similar to but smaller than the fingers m, for which they are substituted. The tension fingers k, Fig. 8, may be made longer and be secured at each end to cross-bars on the stud h, and, to give greater friction, other fingers are carried by arms v which can turn around the fingers k and be secured thereto by set-screws w. In another modification, the ball &c., the brake, and the tensioning-device are supported in a frame which stands behind the loom.
