Abstract
13,778. Miller, M. B., and Harvey, G. W. June29. Screw propellers.-The blades 9 are plattershaped, the minor axis lying in the same plane as the axis of the propeller shaft. The major axis is curved to the arc of a circle, the radius of which is considerably greater than the radius of curvature of the minor axis. Ribs 10 are fitted to the blade as shown to increase the holding action due to the shape of the blade and prevent the water flying outwards. The blade shank 4 is serrated at its bottom surface and secured in place by a screw 6, enabling the :pitch to be adjusted.
